LEARNING
TOPIC
Please see our newsletter and Learning Journey below to find out about our current areas of learning.
PE
Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on their PE days.
- PE shorts or plain joggers/ leggings
- PE T-shirt
- School jumper/ cardigan
- Trainers that the child can fasten independently, or they can arrive in their school shoes and change into their plimsolls/ trainers for the PE lesson
- Long hair will need to be tied up on PE days, and earrings removed
HOMEWORK
READING
Reading homework is ongoing on a daily basis. Reading daily and discussing the texts, such as recapping the key points, characters, new vocabulary and making predictions, are great ways to improve reading fluency and comprehension skills. The children bring home a book each day to read aloud to an adult. We recommend they read for around 10-15 minutes, at least four times a week. At this stage children are expected to read their book at home twice before changing their book. This promotes fluency and confidence.
Once children are on the Accelerated reading program they can complete a quiz on Accelerated Reader each time they finish their book. Here is the link:

SPELLINGS
After half-term of the Autumn Term children will bring home, on Fridays, a list of spellings to practise. These will be tested the following Friday.
MATHS
Children are encouraged to use the White Rose One Minute maths app to practise fluency of a range of number skills. This app is free and can be downloaded.
Later in the year children will have individual logins for TT Rockstars; an app which helps them to become fluent with times tables. Their logins will be at the front of their planner. The children will be set a TT Rockstars 'session' of 15 minutes to complete each week.
