HOMEWORK
READING
In Key Stage 2, children are expected to be reading for enjoyment with greater independence. Therefore, pupils are expected to read at home at least 4 times a week; this will be monitored during planner checks. It is still important for children to read to an adult, even if they are fluent readers. This will develop their comprehension skills.
Children will also participate in three specific guided reading sessions a week to develop a broad range of reading skills. These sessions will be based on a range of different genres.
Our Class book this term is:
SPELLINGS
Children will receive a list of spellings to learn at home each Friday. They will be tested on these spellings on Friday, so again please try to practise these at home with your child on a regular basis.
TIMES TABLES
Times tables are a highly important aspect of mathematics, requiring a great deal of support at home as well as at school. At the end of Year 4, children are expected to know all of their times tables up to 12x12. This will be tested at the end of Year 4 in a national test. We therefore try to develop confidence in times tables throughout Year 3.
The children are expected to play 15 minutes on 'garage' which will be set on a Friday and due to be completed by the following Friday.
